Ok, she didn’t mean it literally. That was the story Spade would stick to for the rest of her life if this whole thing ever decided to rear its head again. It had just been a saying, a silly little Earthen saying that had no actual meaning behind it. At least not meaning like that. Hadn’t she cleared that up for the silver Cybertronian? Spade was sure she had, she distinctly remembered doing it.
Her hand hit her face pretty hard when Thunderstruck planted one on Feuer.
Though, when Thunderstruck handed off the device before laughing like a maniac and driving away blaring human music, the green femme felt she had been played. Something about how the two acted made her feel like she had been manipulated, if only slightly, and Spade didn’t like feeling that way.
”Ya’ didn’t seriously tell ‘im ta’ do that, didja’?”
“No. He just took my words a little too literally.” Now she felt awkward around Solarfeuer. That was natural though, right? It was only normal to feel strange around a mech she had been threatened. Plus what had just occurred but Spade felt she could let that little incident slip from her memory banks pretty easily…
”Andddd he played ya’ good, femme.”
She nodded in agreement, not looking directly at the orange bot. “So it seems. But, er, no real harm done, yes?” A thought hit her suddenly as she watched Feuer toss the lie detector up and down a few times. “…That’s not your lie detector, is it Feuer?” [/blockquote]

“So it seems. But, er, no real harm done, yes?”
”’Pends on ya’ definition o’ ‘real’, femme. I guess not, though. ‘Sides a nasty kiss nothin’ scarrin’ happened.” Was she that intent on staying and bothering him with questions? As an Autobot or something Spade seemed like she had better things to do than linger around some mech in need of repairs and ask questions about an idiot that had screwed with them both.
“…That’s not your lie detector, is it Feuer?”
He snorted then grinned, tossing the mentioned device up once more for good measure and added affect. ”Naw, ain’t mine. ‘Posed ta’ be his, but I gotta feelin’ he nicked it off some poor ‘bot.” He also doubted that whoever it really belonged to wasn’t going to want it back. The device was in some pretty crummy shape.
Then the lie detector let out three consecutive ‘truths’ in a voice that sent shivers through Feuer. Suddenly he missed the sultry female voice. A lot. He raised an optic ridge at the lie detector, wondering what had caused the change before his sight was covered up by a blinding white, causing him to see spots and stumble backwards as the detector hit the ground and let off a whistle.
He yelled a quick ‘Get down’ to anyone (including Spade) who may have been nearby before watching in a mix of amazement and annoyance as the lie detector quite literally exploded. The pieces shot upward in a mix of colors, reminds Feuer slightly of something one would see during the ‘Fourth of July’. Though he was too annoyed to be moved by the whole thing. Normally he would be gaping at it like he’d never seen one before, but now he was too busy putting two and two together.
Had Thunderstruck just tried to kill him?
… He was an idiot for thinking something like that could actually kill him. ”He needs ta’ stop sendin’ me mixed signals.”

”’Pends on ya’ definition o’ ‘real’, femme. I guess not, though. ‘Sides a nasty kiss nothin’ scarrin’ happened.”
She really wouldn’t count a kiss, no matter how ‘nasty’, as harm. But maybe if she was in Feuer’s position she’d think differently. Actually if she was in Feuer’s position she would probably be freaking out about the damage taken from a sole mech before storming off to fix it. But she wasn’t Feuer and she wasn’t in his position.
”Naw, ain’t mine. ‘Posed ta’ be his, but I gotta feelin’ he nicked it off some poor ‘bot.”
That sounded right. Spade felt a bit of anger rise when it was confirmed she had been played by Thunderstruck, but kept it mostly hidden as she opened her mouth to speak. Her words were cut off by the previously mentioned device though and Spade watched with a mixed look as the lie detector croaked ‘truth’ a few times.
Then it exploded. She barely registered Feuer’s order to ‘get down’ as she raised her arms to guard her face. The light was rather blinding at first, but it soon died down in intensity and Spade looked over her arms, surprised to see it colorful and rather… human-ish. It actually surprised her that the device had exploded that way. And suddenly she was thankful that Thunderstruck had scared all the humans off. That explosion definitely would have hurt one.
Spade wondered if Thunderstruck had planned that or even knew if it would have happened.
”He needs ta’ stop sendin’ me mixed signals.”
“Excuse me?” She said softly, trying to vent out the hot air from the area.

“Excuse me?”
”Well y’know. First he wants ta’ race, then we fight. Next we play a game and he drops out on ‘is part of the deal. Then he pulls the whole ‘hero’ thin’ afore tryin’ ta’ get ya’ ta’ take me back ta’ ya’ silly base. An’ finally this whole thing with the kiss and the unstable lie detector.” He snorted at the end of his ramble, rubbing the back of his helm and feeling downright awkward.
”S’buncha mixed signals, yeah?” He watched the femme for a moment before realizing that the explosion might have jarred her or something. Dealing with much worse ones all his life, Feuer didn’t even think about this little one. It was rather pathetic in his mind, to be honest. But he didn’t know how much experience the other had with explosions…
”Ya… ok?” That was a pretty straight forward way of making sure someone wasn’t too messed up, right? He felt a little strange asking it, mostly because he never really had before. There was never really a need for him to ask anyone if they were ok. He’d always just laugh at them or do something equally ass-holey, no matter how serious things were.

She listened, a little stunned, as Feuer explained himself. Had all of that happened in just one day? It seemed like quite a lot and only led Spade to disliking Thunderstruck even more than she already was starting to. It also made her wonder if the silver mech was the more dangerous one, but that thought was quelled when she realized he was probably just messing around. That seemed reasonable.
”S’buncha mixed signals, yeah?”
“Definitely,” she agreed with a smile. Spade felt she would be extremely confused if something like that ever happened to her. It seemed like so much trouble too, having to deal with all of that in one day because of one, slightly idiotic, mech. She felt herself sympathizing with Feuer, if only for just a moment.
”Ya… ok?”
She looked warily to the pieces of the destroyed device, hoping that they didn’t have any life still in them. A second explosion was not in her agenda. “Oh, yes. I’m alright. It was a little startling though. Who knew such a small thing could pack a punch like that…?” She trailed off, glancing at Feuer with a small smile before looking back down at the scattered pieces.

“Definitely,”
Hah. Now he didn’t have to feel like an idiot for even suggesting it, someone else understood. To his annoyance Feuer took too much pleasure in knowing that than he really should. A lot of people would probably agree with him; it was more than a little obvious. Now he just needed to stop feeling pleased with himself and focus on something more important.
Like ditching the femme to get clean.
“Oh, yes. I’m alright. It was a little startling though. Who knew such a small thing could pack a punch like that…?”
He chuckled, raising an optic ridge at the green femme. ”That? Startlin’?” Feuer gave a little huff of amusement, brushing off some residue from the explosion that had dirtied up his armor some more. ”Ya’ must spend not much time with bombs, Spade. That was a pretty wimpy explosion.” He would have labeled it as annoying, but too many times today he’d felt annoyed. Feuer needed to let it all slide.
Besides, what was he doing still speaking to Spade? He needed to cut off the conversation now so he could get gone. Something inside him kept repeating that Thunderstruck was gonna be back and Solarfeuer did not want to bump into him. Ever again. He either needed to get out of Detroit or go into hiding. Right now, getting out sounded good.

Spade smiled, covering up her slight annoyance with a happy look. Of course she didn’t spend time with bombs. It wasn’t like she made them or even worked with them. Spade preferred to stay as far away from them as she could, actually. A clean shot from a laser was much more affective in her opinion. Not to mention a whole lot cleaner, which always mattered in her book.
Speaking of clean, she felt like she hadn’t polished in ages. And she couldn’t even begin to imagine how the other robot must be feeling now. He was much more grimed up than she was. Plus his paint was scratched and there were plenty of noticeable wounds on him. If only he wasn’t petrified or whatever of following her back to base. He’d get patched up nicely there and could go on doing whatever it was he did.
Maybe… she’d have to use a little tact, of course. Word things nicer. Seem less blunt about it all. But there was a chance she could change Feuer’ mind, wasn’t there? “Your paints all dinged up,” she said with a fake giggle, ignoring his comment about bombs and jumping straight to repairs.
“But you work with bombs so having a little paint messed up isn’t a big deal, right? I’m sure you’ve got loads of supplies to take care of it…” She’d play the worried card, it would be easy since she already was worried for the mech. Just over doing it would make it better. [/blockquote]

Why did he get the very distinct feeling Spade was just being fake with him now? It seemed every action the femme took and every word she spoke was just covered in layers of falseness… It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, Feuer could tell you. Knowing you were being lied to just left a crappy sense of negativity flowing through you. Like someone had just dropped a guilt bomb on your head, except the one who really should be feeling guilt wasn’t you.
“Your paint’s all dinged up,”
A very human thank you, captain obvious danced through his processor for a moment before Feuer cut the thought and began a serious inspection of himself. He didn’t need a femme telling him what was wrong. And he probably didn’t even need to do a full inspection, he just needed to move and see where it hurt. Standing in front of something reflective for a few moments wouldn’t hurt either.
Supplies. Had he just heard supplies? Yeah, Solarfeuer was pretty sure the green ‘bot had just said something about him having plenty of supplies. He wondered if he should laugh and tell the femme that he had no personal supplies, only the stuff for his explosives. But he stopped himself, deciding he had told the truth too much today and had laughed more than he should have in one day. ”Yep, m’all set.” [/blockquote]

”Yep, m’all set.”
Spade couldn’t read others that well. She was rather blind to how others felt and what the wanted. She could count numerous times where someone had to point-blank tell her what they were feeling, just because she didn’t get it. However, Spade could tell a lie from a truth. She took that little bit as a make up for being so ignorant to how others felt and what they meant by thing they did.
Placing her hand against her hip, the green femme raised an optic ridge at the mech in front of her, as if saying “wanna run that by me again?” She’d be a Decepticon before believing that string of words Solarfeuer tried to pass off for the truth. She had half a thought to berate the mech for even thinking about lying to her at this point, before realizing that yelling at the other wasn’t exactly a good way to get him to trust her.
Neither was forcing the truth, so she’d have to be a bit better at what she was doing.
Slowly she returned to a more relaxed position, giving Feuer a slightly smile and taking a few steps closer. “Of course you are,” she cooed gently. “It’d be irresponsible and pretty stupid not to be prepared for things like this.”

Feuer froze when the femme struck a disbelieving pose. Had she really seen passed him that easily? Maybe, with all the truths of the day, he had gotten bad at lying. He would have to work on that soon, he noted to himself, trying to work a way around the femme bot who seemed to not want to believe him. There had to be some way to get Spade off his back for good.
His thoughts were interrupted as Spade came closer, speaking softly in a voice that made Feuer twitch uncomfortably. Yeah, she really needed to back away. The space between them was getting too little for Feuer’s taste. And that femme seemed mighty quick to helping him out. Maybe he was reading too far into this, but Feuer couldn’t help but stick two and two together…
He’d always hated puzzles.
”’Kay, ya’ gotta back off, Spade.” Now for why. He’d have to lie again, of course. But maybe (if luck was on his side) his lie would work this time and Spade would back off. ”M’taken and don’t need any confusion goin’ on ‘round here, so just take ya’ steps back.” He kept his face as blank as he could, only letting the slightest amount of annoyance seeped though. For affect. [/blockquote]

She stopped, feeling a little flustered as the mech in front of her spoke hurriedly. She hadn’t meant it that way. Oh no, Spade had only meant for it to seem she was… comfortable around Solarfeuer. She had no mind to make him feel that she was trying to instigate something more between the two. Innocently, Spade put up her hands, taking steps backward to make up for the space she had closed in on.
“My apologies, I didn’t mean to… come off like that.” How embarrassing, giving Feuer the wrong image. Especially if he was, how he put, ‘taken’. For a moment Spade thought to ask who it was, but then stopped her curiosity. That would probably be intruding and more than likely she wouldn’t even know the ‘bot by name. Spade didn’t know any of Feuer’s contacts other than Thunderstr-
She let out a soft “Oh…” as it clicked. It did make sense; after all, Thunderstruck had gone and kissed Feuer. They would have to be on some… level of… intimacy for that, yes? As she struggled to comprehend it more, Spade was vaguely aware of Solarfeuer and how he was probably going to leave any second. “Again, I’m sorry. I was just worried and wanted to check a little closer.” she struggled out, feeling completely unprepared and embarrassed. [/size]
