Name: Megatron
Race: Cybertronian
Gender: Male
Age: ~3 million stellar cycles? (~60 in human years) (exact age unknown)
Origin: Cybertron? (or the very least a Cybertronian colony-- he was definitely a normally-created Transformer)
Allegiance: Decepticon
Description: Every Transformer knows who Megatron is. He is the leader of the Decepticons, the whole reason why there is a real conflict in the first place. Ruthless, cunning, skilled, and incredibly strong, Megatron seemingly has no real weaknesses. Megatron demands complete loyalty, and is only tolerant of traitors if they serve his larger goals. (Even so, the only reason Starscream is alive is because of the Allspark fragment in his head.)
Megatron is one of the largest Transformers there is-- only Lugnut, Strika, Blackout, and (of course) Omega Supreme are larger. In robot mode he wields two dual swords that can cut through almost any substance in the universe short of diamond-- they were prizes for winning the Kaon Krusher tournament. His main weapon, however, is a fusion cannon, mounted on his right arm. Both powerful and accurate, it draws on the power of a black hole and can annhiliate pretty much anything his swords can't.
When Megatron was reformatted by Sari's key, he gained the alternate mode of an osprey helicopter, circa 2108.
Megatron has unique connections with several Transformers-- namely, Lugnut, Bludgeon, Shockwave, Strika, Starscream, Ultra Magnus, and Optimus Prime/Magnus.
Megatron was an early student of Bludgeon's, who taught him many of the Metallikato combat techniqes that Megatron perfected due to his strength and size. As such, Bludgeon is one of the few Transformers Megatron truly respects.
Megatron gained the attention of Strika, Shockwave, and Lugnut during his battles in the Kaon Krusher tournaments (this is also when he drew many other soon-to-be Decepticons to his side as well). They were the first three to really declare their loyalty to Megatron, however, and as such they are the only three Megatron unconditionally trusts-- though none moreso than Lugnut, who definitely goes overboard whenever he gets on the subject of Megatron's genius.
Starscream was to come onboard soon afterwards. Always feigning loyalty to Megatron until that fateful day when they found the Allspark onboard a lowly Autobot ship, Megatron came to trust Starscream at least enough to turn his back to the 'Con, even though he always thought something "off" about the jet-former. His mistake. Now Megatron hates Starscream almost as much as Optimus, but still allows the egomanical jetformer to serve as his second-in-command-- after all, keep your friends close, and your enemies....
Ultra Magnus used to be Megatron's arch enemy. It became a source of pride during the Great War that it had taken a Magnus to beat him-- and even then, the fight was close. Megatron respected Ultra Magnus as a combatant, though of course he also wanted nothing more than to pound Ultra Magnus until he was nothing more than a blue-and-white smear on the floor. Ultra Magnus stood for everything he stood against. As such, Megatron is quite pleased that Ultra Magnus is now offline.
Optimus Magnus, though-- Megatron considers the former Prime still very much beneath him. Optimus wasn't a leader, he couldn't even complete the Elite Guard training program. It was only through sheer luck-- and a certain Decepticon's treachery-- that Megatron was beaten. As such, he hates Optimus even more than he did Ultra Magnus. Still, Megatron has learned not to underestimate Optimus through his experiences with the Autobots on Earth, and has taken this into consideration for his future plans.
Past: Megatron's past is too lengthy and eventful to fully recount here. As such this will focus on Megatron's past up to the end of the Great War; all events that occurred in the television series are left out for brevity's sake.
No one but Megatron knows his exact age, and he's not telling. The first notable records of his existence that archivists have been able to dig up show him undergoing a routine systems upgrade 2.94 million stellar cycles ago, so most historians have pegged his age as slightly older than this. Any definitive records on his "birth" were destroyed during the Great War-- perhaps on purpose?
Sometime in his early life, Megatron grew increasingly disenchanted with the Autobots (back then simply called the ruling "elites"-- from whence the current term "elite guard" comes from). He felt that it wasn't their right to tell other 'bots how to lead just because they got elected or appointed to their positions-- afterall, he reasoned, most Transformers were far too stupid to make legitimate decisions for themselves. A more military-focused society was needed, with one sole leader-for-life. Megatron did not necessarily see himself as this dictator at first, but after undergoing training at Bludgeon's dojo and then putting that training to use in the annual Kaon Krusher tournaments, where he was the only one to ever defeat Lugnut, he saw that other disenchanted 'bots felt drawn to him. He was strong, he had ideas, he knew how to lead, and he knew how to get other Transformers riled up-- play to their emotions. And thus soon enough, Megatron saw himself as the only rightful leader Cybertron would ever have-- it was his destiny.
And thus began the Great War. Having gathered a significant army of followers, the civil war began. Given how many on the Decepticon side were military-minded and thus better at combat than many on the Autobot side, they would have won were it not for the one-two-punch of the creation of Omega Supreme and the throwing of the Allspark into a transwarp gate out of sheer desperation to stop the 'Cons from getting their hands on it.
Finally defeated, Megatron took most of his inner circle with him into outer space while the Autobots were regrouping, leaving most of his other Decepticons to be branded as outlaws and cast to the colonies on the periphery. Most Decepticons don't blame Megatron for this, though-- as many would tell you, without Megatron, there is no united Decepticon cause.
Megatron has now been captured and stored in a max-security prison in the Elite Guard HQ on Cybertron, but the Decepticons-- as well as many of the Autobots-- know that it isn't over just yet.
Other:
Although Megatron has no traditional weaknesses, the integration of his prized swords into his vehicle mode by Sari's key does cause a few minor problems. Robbed of his swords, Megatron cannot transform into vehicle mode. He can still fly in robot mode, but not nearly as fast.
Also, Megatron's vehicle mode does not work in space.
