Name: Wheeljack
Race: Cybertronian
Gender: Male
Age: ~3.5 Million Stellar Cycles (equvalent of mid-60s for a human)
Origin: Cybertron
Allegiance: Autobots
Description: Outside of Optimus' crew, if there's one 'bot among the Cybertronian "elite" who your average Transformer would say is the most "down to earth", Wheeljack would be it. Despite being one of the Cybertronians most responsible for the winning of the Great War all those millennia ago and having been part of the Cybertronian "upper crust" almost all his life, Wheeljack gets along with just about any Autobot there is. He's particularly friendly to the Twins, who he practically considers his "kids", of sorts. Wheeljack is also a 'bot who tends not to sugar-coat anything-- which is probably why, unlike his fellow 'bot Perceptor, he never got into Cybertronian politics. If he thinks we're all doomed, then by Primus he'll say it.
This inherent disconnect with many of his peers had led Wheeljack to keep to himself more and more in the recent decades, as he has felt that many of the Elites have grown more detached from the regular Autobot populace.
Unfortunately, Wheeljack himself is rather scatter-brained. Although a complete genius when it comes to engineering, his attention is rarely on one thing for long, his mind always skipping to his newest idea. There are literally hundreds of abandoned projects in his lab because of this. He needs someone to help direct his creative energy, and with his old pal Perceptor increasingly involved in politics as head of the Ministry of Science, Wheeljack's usefulness to the Autobot cause has admittedly dimmed in recent years. His processor isn't getting any younger, either, which is also why many see Wheeljack as being in the beginning stages of senile decline (though no one has ever told him this themselves). Perceptor has noticed this lack of direction of Wheeljack's, which is why Wheeljack has just been assigned his first off-planet mission, to help give him a purpose again.
Wheeljack has special relationships with three other Autobots-- Jetstorm and Jetfire, and then Perceptor.
He and Perceptor have had a past going back almost to their creation, and the two are of the same super-genius level intelligence, so they naturally became friends as they worked together on various projects over the years, Wheeljack helping to come up with ideas and construct them while Perceptor directed and refined said projects. However, after Perceptor was elected to serve as the head of the Ministry of Science about 100 stellar cycles ago, it left Wheeljack alone and nearly friendless. They both still communicate with each other occasionally, but Perceptor is simply too busy to spend much time with Wheeljack anymore. Wheeljack knows that Perceptor has simply gone on to bigger and better things-- if you ask him about Perceptor, he'll say that he's glad his friend got elected to such a noteworthy position, but internally he resents his old friend for taking the job, though he also recognizes such a feeling a selfish. He's occupied his mind with myriad projects since then, but as already mentioned, none of them have turned out too well. Only the recent Project: Safeguard brought the famous duo together again out of necessity to complete the delicate procedure.
Having had an instrumental hand in creating the new forms of the Twins, he finds their youthful innocence energizing-- not to mention having four extra hands around to help him with his work is always good. They've helped stave off Wheeljack's tendency to isolate himself from the guard recently, as he finds that despite being special projects themselves, they still seem rather "down to earth" and not very "political" in their personality, which is something he's certainly always appreciated. He considers them his best friends at the moment, as they're the 'Bots he most often comes into contact with.
Though he isn't too fond of many members of the Elite Guard, Wheeljack is nevertheless totally devoted to the Autobot cause, and never once has considered switching sides. He has felt a moral sting now and then-- such as during Project Omega-- but has felt that taking the path of lesser evil was necessary to prevent the Decepticons from winning.
Wheeljack is roughly average height for an Autobot, though of a somewhat heavier build, which gives him above-average strength. He has two traditional weapons-- a pop-up over-the-shoulder rocket launcher of average power, and a short-range electro-shocker gun that he usually uses to weld parts together.
Past: Soon after being birthed by the Allspark, Wheeljack was recognized for his genius and teamed up with another similarly-aged 'bot named Perceptor. Through their various projects, they both became fairly good friends, and given their outstanding test scores shot up to the top of the science & engineering sects of the Transformers quickly. When the Great War began, they both took the side of the Autobots without a second thought, knowing full well what was right and what was wrong. However, since they had both attained such a high position in Transformer society long before the Great War, neither of them received any combat training. As such, Wheeljack's above-average strength is his only real asset in battle.
Little else happened in Wheeljack's life until Perceptor was elected to the Ministry of Science, as detailed above.
Other: Wheeljack's alt mode is a Cybertronian hover racecar, though he barely ever uses it.
Wheeljack will soon acquire an Earth mode, which is a stylized "Animated" version of his G1 Spychanger self: www.angelfire.com/scifi/bbfortress/g1spywheeljack.html No extra powers or abilities are gained from the alt-mode scan.
His hologuise is a somewhat chunky yet muscular black man of Wheeljack's approximate human age (mid-60s) with gray hair and the same "facial hair" that Wheeljack's robot head design hearkens to.
