THESE IDEAS BELONG TO ME AND NATCHY. STEAL THEM AND WE WILL HURT YOU. > -brick'd-
Oil Slick, unlike his fellow Decepticons, was not repulsed by what happened to Blackarachnia. Rather, he saw tremendous potential in it. So yes, Oil Slick sees potential in techorganics. He decides to put into motion a techorganic super-soldier program. One that will blend Cybertronian mechanics with the genetic material of fearsome alien monsters. It is not a program that most of the Cons are attracted to, though, given their disdain for organics. This suits Oil Slick's purposes nicely, however, as only the most determined volunteers will sign up this way. Among the volunteers is a weedy Decepticon rookie called Inferno. Determined to climb the ladder no matter what, and become a deadly force that can best further the Decepticon way.
His desire to be the ultimate warrior ("There can be only one!") leads him to sneakily manipulate his fellow volunteers. Pitting them against one another via trickery and backstabbing. Oil Slick is fully aware of what is going on, but lets it happen anyway. Inferno's style intrigues him. He views it as a way of weeding out none but the most suitable. Then, the ultimate survivor Oil Slick will clone. To obtain an army of the most optimal. Inferno emerges the sole victor, and is subjected to the splicing procedure. The organic genetic material in question is that of a ferocious species of prodigious alien fire ant. The process leaves Inferno stronger than ever before, but amplifies his mental makeup, including his fanaticism. Making him the die-hard loyalist that we know and love from BW.
As for why Oil Slick's cloning of Inferno never really went down, we can go with a few possible explanations. The most obvious one would be some kind of Autobot attack destroying his equipment and research papers, thus preventing further experiments from being conducted. The second one is more sinister. It involves Inferno sabotaging his creator's research, to ensure that he will have no future competition as the warrior best able to serve the colony. And the royalty. The only problem with this second one is that it doesn't jibe with his loyal tendencies. (Use first explanation)
So let's get this straight. Oil Slick's initial project spawned Inferno, before the research was lost to an Autobot attack. But... Perhaps this is how the Autobot attack actually went down. Cyberfang, wanting the research for himself, broadcasts a message to the Autobots in the clear (non-encrypted and easily interceptible). The message details the location of Oil Slick's facility, which the Autobots would naturally want to capture/destroy. Given how much of a big fish Oil Slick is. So the Autobots attack. Cyberfang takes advantage of the confusion to spirit away as much of the research as he can. As electronic files, probably. The actual equipment would be impractical to save, but duplicable later on.
So Oil Slick goes around thinking that his work was lost, the only surviving element of it all being Inferno. Other projects take up his attention, and he moves on, although chagrined. What he doesn't know is that his supposed buddy took everything. And is now using the stolen research to come up with the Predacon faction. Thus explaining where all these other techorganics are coming from. What if Cyberfang, thought to be dead because of the Autobot attack, uses this to dissapear, change himself, and he become a totally different person? e.e He could've had a different name before
Cyberfang, right? SO. It's the perfect scheme. O:! And he can move about freely without having to worry about being wary of. But then, if he just came popped up, new technorganic, all by himself, it wouldn't make sense. So, he makes others like himself. He makes a select few. Ripjaw, Bezerker, Aero (sadly, he isn't going to be a technorganic in this), and others. O:! no one could point fingers. -Cyberfang
